Skating that ever-fine line- where the audience is terrified
for the life of the character, but never afraid for the life of the
actor- the climactic dual at the end of this play gives just the right
spice to the show.
With two dedicated actors to our credit, Dashing Blades embarked upon
creating the most exciting and realistic battle between two
excruciatingly foppish characters seen in these parts for a while.
With physical constraints such as a theatre in the round setup and
audience members almost sitting on the stage, it was quite a challenge
to both keep the natural and intense while never forgetting the safety
of actors and audience. In the end, actors Zoltan Rae as Danceny and
Patrick O'Donnell as Valmont flaunted the fruits of their weeks of hard
training with Dashing Blades and pulled off the fight flawlessly each
night.
"The climactic duel between Valmont and Danceny is excitingly
frightening in its speed, ferocity and precision."- Jane Penistan of
